For ten years, the events have been organised by Iteca and its international partners from the UK and Germany.
The exhibition presented more than 70 companies from Italy, Germany, China, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and many other countries. As in the past, they demonstrated the most advanced equipment for oil field exploration, production, refining and transportation of raw materials. This year, there was a significant increase in the number of Russian exhibitors. Due to the establishment of the Customs Union, many procedures which previously impeded business growth have ceased to exist.
There were also many manufacturers from Kazakhstan. Companies from many regions of the country presented their products in Atyrau. There was interest in the products of Atyrau Neftemash from almost every major company operating in the region.
Holger Hartwig, the president of a German company, said: “I walked around the exhibition and was even a little upset. Three or four years ago we had no competitors. Now your manufacturers produce equipment that previously was only made in our country. But the more interesting it will be to work - we will move on to invent something more perfect.”
In parallel with the exhibition, the Renaissance Hotel hosted OilTech 2011, the 5th Atyrau Regional Petroleum Technology Conference. The conference is considered a regional event, but it discussed issues concerning the whole country’s raw materials sector.
“Today, the Kazakhstani content of projects being implemented has become a priority. Before, three points - price, quality and timeframes – were required from foreign partners, but now another point has been added to these requirements – Kazakhstani content. On this subject, meetings were held with well-known international companies, at which there was an exchange of views. Representatives of foreign companies met with representatives of Kazakhstani businesses, and organised meetings and conferences. As a result, about 30 foreign investors have agreed to visit and look for partners in Kazakhstan,” said Zhandarbek Kakishev, Chairman of the Board of the National Agency for Local Content Development.
Besides the topic of Kazakhstani content in oil and gas businesses, the conference sessions focused on the following subjects: “Kazakhstan’s oil and gas processing industry”, “The development of high-tech and science intensive plants in Kazakhstan”, “Safety at plants and occupational safety”, “Social responsibility”, “Environmental protection and waste utilisation”, and “Environmental catastrophes”.
Since their launch, the Atyrau Oil & Gas exhibition and OilTech Atyrau conference have become important events, both for the Caspian region and for the development of Kazakhstani industry as a whole. The events contribute to the implementation of major investment projects, the construction of new industrial facilities and the creation of new plants.
