Major Caspian Oil and Gas Events Attract Thousands of Specialists to Atyrau

Today, on April 6, the main events in April for the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan and the Caspian Region opened in Atyrau – Atyrau Oil, Gas and Infrastructure Exhibition – Atyrau Oil & Gas 2010, and OilTech Atyrau Conference.
The Atyrau Oil, Gas and Infrastructure Exhibition occupies 2000 m² of the Atyrau Sports Complex. It presents over 100 companies from 10 countries: China, France, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Russia, Turkey, UK, and Ukraine.

In addition to the major oil and gas companies like KazMunaiGas Exploration Production, Tengizchevroil and North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC), the exhibition brings together companies that offer services in the oil and gas industry, oil and gas equipment, special clothing, environmental protection technology, and companies engaged in construction and infrastructure. Atyrau Oil & Gas exhibitors include big local manufacturers of oil and gas equipment and service companies such as AtyrauNefteMash LLP, KazPromPribor LLP, KazTurboRemont Service Centre LLP, Prikaspiiskiy Mashinostroitelny Kompleks LLP, and EnergoCenter Asia LLP. Russian companies are broadly represented at the exhibition (over 30% of the total number of exhibitors). Also, the growing potential of the event is illustrated by the fact that, along with the regular exhibitors (80%), every year new companies take part in the exhibition.

OilTech Atyrau Petroleum Technology Conference is held on April 6-7 at the Renaissance Atyrau Hotel. Its participants include 150 delegates who will hear reports to be made by 26 speakers and discuss them in plenary meetings. Main topics of the Technology Conference will include: The Role of the Atyrau Region in the Political and Economic Development of Kazakhstan; Strategic Development of Exploration and Production in Kazakhstan; Water and Wastewater Management: Solutions and Technologies; Protection of Capital Investment through Preservation in a Severe Climate; The Concept of Engineering and Geological Surveys within the Western Kazakhstan Region; Development of the Oil Refining Industry in Kazakhstan. A Case Study: Atyrau Refinery; Petrochemical Products and Marketing Them in Western Kazakhstan, etc.

The oil industry is one of the world’s most developed and innovation-oriented sectors, with new methods and technologies constantly developing. In this respect, meetings between scientists, designers and engineers from advanced oil producing countries are critical for an exchange of expertise and development of new ideas.

Atyrau Oil & Gas Exhibition and OilTech Atyrau Conference will become the first public venue to present the unique petrophysical laboratory established by the affiliate of KazMunayGas National Company JSC – Kazakh Institute of Oil and Gas. The laboratory’s state-of-the-art equipment will enable the region's mineral developers to efficiently carry out high-quality research of core samples by local specialists which used to be performed abroad. A tour of the laboratory is scheduled on Day One.

NefteGas SOCAR Scientific Research Institute, will present its new developments at this conference as well. Fahreddin Sattar Ogly Ismailov, Director of NefteGas SOCAR Scientific Research Institute, will make a report, New Composite Demulsifier. The Institute has developed some composite compounds with a demulsifying effect to destroy stable oil emulsions on oil fields in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

Over the past ten years, oil production has doubled in Kazakhstan, and new routes have been created for transportation of hydrocarbons to world markets. Development of the oil and gas industry will continue to have a positive effect on the development pace of the non-oil sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy.

As noted by Sauat Mynbayev, Minister of Oil and Gas of the Republic of Kazakhstan: “Today, Kazakhstan is one of the leading countries in the Eurasian region. The successful development of the oil and gas industry plays an important role in improving the stability of the country’s international and regional situation. The country is dominant. The growth of production capacities and expansion of transport infrastructure is promoting greater cooperation between Kazakh and international oil and gas industry professionals. It is impossible to overstate the importance of the West Kazakhstan region and Atyrau, Kazakhstan’s oil capital, to the country’s political and economic life – the growing interest in the oil and gas events held here serves as proof of this. Since their launch, Atyrau Oil & Gas and OilTech Atyrau have become a traditional meeting for representatives of the international oil and gas community.”

Atyrau Oil, Gas and Infrastructure – Atyrau Oil & Gas 2010 Exhibition and OilTech Atyrau Conference are organised by the Kazakhstan exhibition company Iteca and its international partners from the United Kingdom and Germany.

Official support for the events was provided by the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Administrations of Atyrau Regional and the City of Atyrau, and KazMunaiGas Exploration Production JSC. NCOC was general sponsor of the exhibition and conference. The Rixos President Astana Hotel is the exhibition sponsor, while Lloyd’s Register and VWS Oil&Gas are sponsors of the conference.
